Lothar Lindner

Lothar Lindner (born January 13, 1928 in Chemnitz ) is a German trade unionist . He was chairman of the board of the industrial union construction wood in FDGB and president of the International Association of Trade Unions of workers in the construction, wood and building materials industry in the WFTU (WFTU).

Life

Lindner, son of a bricklayer and a kettler , attended elementary school and was a bricklayer's apprentice from 1942 to 1944. In 1944/1945 he was an air force helper and drafted into the Reich Labor Service . In 1945/1946 he finished his apprenticeship and then worked as a bricklayer in construction businesses in Limbach and Chemnitz.

With the re-establishment of the unions in June 1945, Lindner became a member of the Association for the Construction Industry and the FDGB. In the same year his colleagues from his apprenticeship company elected him to the works council and as youth spokesman for the local board of the construction workers' association. In 1947 he joined the SED . From January 1947 he acted as youth secretary in the state board of Saxony of IG Bau-Holz, then in 1947/1948 as main department head for youth / training and instructor in the federal board of the FDGB and finally in 1948/1949 as secretary for training in the central board of IG Bau-Holz . In 1949 he attended a course at the FDGB federal school in Bernau near Berlin . From January 1950 to 1951 Lindner was chairman of the state board of Saxony-Anhalt of IG Bau-Holz, from January 1951 deputy chairman and member of the secretariat of the central board of IG Bau-Holz. In October 1953 he was relieved of his position as deputy chairman because of “wrong assessment of June 17 ” and because of “supporting the demands program of IG Bau-Holz” from July 1953 and was “warned” by the party (party punishment).

In 1954/1955 Lindner was delegated to the party college "Karl Marx" for a one-year course. From 1956 to 1963 he completed a correspondence course at the party college with a degree in social science. He then worked as a deputy head of department (1955–1957) or as a department head organization / management (1957/58) in the federal board of the FDGB. From 1958 to February 1990 Lindner was chairman of the central board of IG Bau-Holz.

From 1956 to December 1989 he was also a member of the federal executive committee of the FDGB, from 1961 to 1963 also a member of its secretariat, from 1959 to 1963 and again from 1968 to November 1989 also a member of its executive committee.

From 1960 to October 1990, Lindner was President of the International Federation of Workers' Unions in the Building, Wood and Building Materials Industry in the WGB. From 1961 to 1990 he was a member of the General Council of the WGB. In his capacity as President of the International Association, Lothar Lindner took part in seven meetings of the committees for civil engineering and public works as well as the forest and wood industry of the International Labor Organization in Geneva .

Lindner was a candidate since 1976, and from 1981 to 1989 a member of the Central Committee of the SED .
