In addition to the United States, the single was released in Belgium and the Netherlands.
The song was used in the feature film Quadrophenia and is available on the soundtrack album. The soundtrack version contains an additional string arrangement. The ending is a few seconds shorter than the album version and the rain effects have been removed. The song served as the inspiration for the title of the 2007 film Reign Over Me .
