Luís Gonzaga Ferreira da Silva SJ (born April 2, 1923 in Rebordões ; † August 7, 2013 in the Angónia District , Mozambique ) was Bishop of Lichinga .

Life

Luís Gonzaga Ferreira da Silva joined the religious order of the Jesuits and was ordained a priest on July 11, 1953 . He was a missionary in Angonia district in the province of Tete , Mozambique .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on November 10, 1972 Bishop of Vila Cabral in northern Mozambique . The Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal Giuseppe Maria Sensi consecrated him on December 17, 1972 as bishop; Co- consecrators were Francisco Nunes Teixeira , Bishop of Quelimane , and Augusto César Alves Ferreira da Silva CM , Bishop of Tete . After renaming the diocese of Vila Cabral to the diocese of Lichinga , he remained in office.

On January 25, 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
