Lucas Feist (also Veist, Veyst, Feyst ) was a Dresden councilor and mayor living in the 15th century .

Life

Little is known about his origin and his life. From 1447 Feist was wine cellar administrator and between 1451 and 1455 city judge in Dresden. He is also mentioned as an electoral palace clerk.

From 1457 he was a member of the council and was appointed chamberlain in 1460 . In addition, one year later he took over the management of the pan office. This was responsible for the administration of the brewing pans belonging to the council as well as the maintenance of the city breweries. Citizens with the right to brew were allowed to borrow these pans in a specified order and had to pay a fee, the pan interest, to the city treasury. The proceeds went to the Maternihospital or, if necessary, were used to purchase new brewing pans. In 1466 he became lord of the lords and was responsible for the collection of inheritance and capital interest , various city taxes and market place fees. In addition, the administration of the city's grain stocks belonged to his area of responsibility.

Lucas Feist was first mayor of Dresden in 1464. He held this office until 1485, according to the usual three-year rhythm of ruling, seated and dormant mayors. From 1478 he was also a member of the board of directors of the Jacob Hospital . In the same year Feist also took over the office of bridge master from his deceased predecessor Hans Brachstete. Feist can be found for the last time in the list of councilors in 1485.
