Lucia Bosè (actually Lucia Borloni , born January 28, 1931 in Milan , † March 23, 2020 in Segovia ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Bosè came from a peasant and working class family; she herself began to work at the age of twelve. She was a messenger for a law firm, later a saleswoman in the well-known Milanese pastry shop "Galli". In 1947 she took part in the first Miss Italy election, in which she was able to win the title against competitors such as Gianna Maria Canale , Eleonora Rossi Drago and Gina Lollobrigida . This and her acquaintance with Luchino Visconti , which soon became friends, led to the first film offers. While Giuseppe De Santis preferred Silvana Mangano for Bitterer Reis in 1949 , he cast Bosè in the follow-up film No peace under the olive trees . Numerous screen engagements followed; In addition to artistically significant works by Michelangelo Antonioni , Luciano Emmer and Luis Buñuel , Bosè was also seen in many utility films. She played several times alongside Walter Chiari in his comedies . She was never active as a stage actress.

In 1955 she married the five years older bullfighter and casual actor Luis Miguel Dominguín, who was popular in his Spanish homeland . The marriage, which ended in divorce in 1967, had three children, two of whom - Paola Dominguin and Miguel Bosé - are also active as actors. During this time she lived in Spain and put her career on hold, except for a single appearance in 1959 for Jean Cocteau .

In 1968, after a break of almost ten years, Bosè returned to film and was in front of the camera first in Spain and later in Italy. There she worked u. a. directed by Federico Fellini in his Petronius adaptation Fellini's Satyricon . After 1978 she was much less active, but constantly active, now also working for television again and again.

Lucia Bosè died in Spain in March 2020 at the age of 89 as a result of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
