Lucy Wangui Kabuu (born March 24, 1984 in Ichamara , Mukurweini District , Central Province ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

Life

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, she was ninth over 10,000 m .

In 2005 she was fifth on the short distance at the World Cross Country Championships in Saint-Galmier , and in 2006 she won gold in the 10,000 m and silver in the 5000 m at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne . In 2008 she came in seventh place at the Olympic Games in Beijing over 10,000 m.

After a baby break, she returned to competition in 2011 and won the Great North Run and the Delhi Half Marathon . In 2012 she finished second in the Dubai Marathon and fifth in the London Marathon . At the RAK Half Marathon 2013, she achieved the second fastest time ever run by a woman with a time of 1:06:09 hours.

In 2018, Kabuu tested positive for morphine during a doping control and was then banned for two years.

Lucy Wangui Kabuu is 1.54 kg tall and weighs 40 kg. At the age of 17, she moved to Japan, where she graduated from Amori Yada High School and then worked for the team at the vehicle manufacturer Suzuki until 2008 .
