Luděk Bukač

Luděk Bukač (born August 4, 1935 in Ústí nad Labem ; † April 20, 2019 ) was a Czech ice hockey player and coach. He trained u. a. from 1992 to 1994 the German national ice hockey team .

Career

Bukač played in 14 seasons and 330 games in the Czechoslovak league, scoring 153 goals for I. ČLTK Prague , HC Sparta Prague and HC Dukla Jihlava . Internationally, he took part in two  ice hockey world championships with the Czechoslovak national ice hockey team and won a silver and a bronze medal with it ( 1961 and 1963 ). In total, he came to 30 international appearances and eleven goals.

His most successful years, however, were those as a coach, which began in 1967 at Sparta Prague. Further stations were VSŽ Košice and Motor České Budějovice . In 1979 he took up the position of national coach for the Czechoslovak team. With her he won the world title in 1985 . He then became the Austrian national coach until 1991 . In 1992 he became the coach of the German national ice hockey team and achieved 6th place at the 1992 Winter Olympics . In 1994 Bukač returned to the Czech national ice hockey team. After eleven years, he succeeded again in 1996 to win the world championship title with the team.

In 1991 Bukač founded an ice hockey school with his son. In 2007 he was honored with induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame . The following year he was one of 41 founding members of the Czech Ice Hockey Hall of Fame .

Luděk Bukač died on Holy Saturday  2019 at the age of 83.
