Ludwig Götz (entrepreneur)

Ludwig Götz (born August 31, 1887 in Neckarsteinach ; † December 31, 1955 there ) was a German company founder , entrepreneur , ship owner and quarry owner . He was co-founder, co-owner and namesake of the shipping company Ludwig and Jakob Götz KG . In addition, he and his younger brother Jakob Götz (1890–1977) are one of the founders of motorized freight shipping on the Neckar and one of the pioneers in inland shipping .

Life and origin

Ludwig Götz was born as the eldest of five children of the shipper and quarry owner Ludwig Friedrich Götz (1865–1922) and his wife of the skipper, ferryman and church minister's daughter Karoline Oestreicher (1867–1932). He was a grandson of the inn owner , industrialist , shipping entrepreneur and multiple quarry owner Johann Friedrich II. Götz (1820-1892). His younger brother was the future ship owner and quarry owner Jakob Götz. Ludwig comes from the Götz entrepreneurial family, who have lived in Neckarsteinach since the second half of the 18th century.

His cousins ​​included the two shipping entrepreneurs and pioneers of the white shipping on the Neckar Georg (1881-1946) and Andreas Boßler (1884-1961).

The entrepreneur Ludwig Götz was born with Barbara Götz. Ulmer (1890–1976) married. His wife came from a family that community councils , church warden, Grand Duke of Hesse councilor and mayor in Neckarsteinach presented. Ludwig Götz's descendants are related through his wife Barbara to the Heuss and Kappes families, who, among other things, belong to the old sailor families.

Companies

Ludwig's father had the first of already in 1907 iron -made barge named Friedrich can put into service. That is why Ludwig Götz commissioned the first motor cargo ship on the Neckar in 1924 and built it at the Anderssen shipyard in Neckarsulm . This was named MS Gebrüder Götz and was launched on March 25, 1925. In 1927 the motor cargo ship Einigkeit followed , which was built by Gassner in Neckarsteinach. Ludwig Götz was now sailing the goods motor ship Einigkeit without his brother Jakob.

In 1920 the shipping company Ludwig and Jakob Götz oHG was officially founded by Ludwig Götz and his younger brother Jakob Götz. In 1952 it was converted into a limited partnership .

Due to the construction contract and the commissioning of the motor ship Gebrüder Götz , the first motorized ship in the Neckar area, Ludwig Götz was one of the founders of motor freight shipping on the Neckar.

In view of the first ever new ship MS Vierburgenstadt after the Second World War in Germany, which was commissioned by the Götz shipping company in 1949 and took place in 1950, the two brothers Ludwig and Jakob Götz became pioneers of inland shipping.

Ludwig Götz, together with his brother Jakob, continued the quarries of his grandfather Johann Friedrich II. Götz and his father Ludwig Friedrich Götz and, together with his younger brother, acquired the following quarries in the Neckar valley in addition to the quarries already owned by the family.

The motor ships Ludwig Götz sen I and Ludwig Götz sen II were dedicated to the ship owner and entrepreneur Ludwig Götz . Ludwig's eldest son, Friedrich Götz, and his descendants continue the business of the Götz shipping company.

As an author , Ludwig Götz also wrote the home song of the Neckarsteinach boatman's club, which is sung by the men faithfully to the tune of the folk song Holde Blum .
