Ludwig Heinrich Georg von Berger (born August 20, 1799 in Badow in Mecklenburg-Schwerin , † December 24, 1858 in Hanover ) was a Hanoverian lieutenant general and commander of Hanover.

Life

He was the son of the Hanoverian Lieutenant General August von Berger and his wife Amalie, born von Döring (1768-1813).

Military career

Berger joined the "Lauenburg" field battalion in 1813, which was set up by his father and advanced to lieutenant in early April 1813. Later he went to the field battalion "Verden". On March 1, 1816 he came as a captain of the new army with a patent from April 21, 1816 to the 7th Infantry Regiment, from April 1, 1820 to July 1, 1833 he was in the 9th Line Battalion.

On February 1, 1838, Berger was transferred to the Leib Regiment and rose to Major in the Guard Regiment in early March 1840 . On September 23, 1846 he became a lieutenant colonel and regimental commander. On December 6, 1851, he was promoted to colonel and appointed commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade. At the same time, Berger was also the commandant of Hanover from May 27, 1853. On May 25, 1854 he was promoted to major general and on May 27, 1858 to lieutenant general. He died in Hanover on December 24, 1858.

His grave is in the garden cemetery in Hanover .

family

Berger married on November 6, 1821 Charlotte von Marschalck (1800–1834), a daughter of the privy councilor Engelbert Johann von Marschalck . After her untimely death, on July 1, 1836, he married Emilie von derdecke (1810–1885), a daughter of the chief Johann Burchard Ludwig von derützen (1771–1834) and the Auguste Bütemeister (1778–1859).
