Ludwig Rüdiger Leinhos (born June 8, 1956 in Aalen ) is a German Lieutenant General in the Air Force and, since April 1, 2017, the Bundeswehr's first cyber and information space inspector in Bonn .

Military career

Training and first uses

Ludwig Leinhos joined the Bundeswehr in 1975 . After his basic training in the Air Force Training Regiment 3 in Roth and the officer course at the Air Force Officer School in Neubiberg , he completed a degree in electrical engineering from 1976 to 1979 at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Neubiberg , which he completed as a graduate engineer . This was followed by uses in the field of intelligence gathering and reconnaissance / electronic warfare. From 1988 to 1990 Leinhos took part in the general staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg.

Service as a staff officer

From 1990 to 1992 Leinhos served in the Office for Studies and Exercises of the Bundeswehr in Ottobrunn . From 1992 to 1995 he was employed as a consultant in the air force command at the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in Bonn. From 1995 to 1997 he worked in the same position as a staff officer with the chief of staff. In his next function, he was a staff officer at the General Manager of NAPMA in Brunssum from 1997 to 2001 . This was followed by a position as deputy commander of telecommunications area 70 until 2001 . From 2001 to 2004 Leinhos was used as commander of this unit or the successor unit Telecommunications Area 92. He then worked at the Federal Office for Information Management and Information Technology of the Bundeswehr in Koblenz until 2005 . From 2005 to 2009 he was head of department in the BMVg, until 2006 in the IT staff, then in the modernization department. During his time on the IT staff, he was also deputy IT director.

Service as a general

From 2009 to 2013 he was again at NAPMA in Brunssum, now as General Manager . From March 2013 to February 2016 he was Director NATO Headquarters C3 Staff in the International Military Staff in Brussels . Since March 2016 he has been serving in the Armed Forces Command in Bonn . Since April 26, 2016, he has been head of the CIR development team, which implements the recommendations for setting up the Cyber ​​/ IT department in the ministry and the CIR organizational area. On April 1, 2017, he took over the newly created post of inspector of the cyber and information space.

Leinhos is a member of the Advisory Council of the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC).
