Miro Smerdelj (born October 2, 1986 in Zagreb , Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian ice hockey player and coach who has been under contract with the KHL Mladost Zagreb since 2004 and has played with the club in the International Hockey League since 2017 . He has also been the coach of the Croatian women's national team since 2017

Career

Miro Smerdelj began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb . In 2004 he moved to local rivals KHL Zagreb . Smerdelj has been playing for KHL Mladost Zagreb since 2004 , for which he was on the ice in addition to his appearances in the Croatian league from 2009 to 2012, as well as in the Slohokej league . In 2008 Smerdelj won both the Croatian championship title and the Pannonian League with Mladost . Since 2017 he has been playing with Mladost in the International Hockey League .

International

For Croatia , Ljubić took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in Division II in 2003 and 2004 and the U20 World Championships in Division II in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2008 and 2010 and in the World Championships in Division II in 2011 and 2012 . He also played for Croatia in qualifying for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 and in Sochi in 2014 .

Coaching

In addition to his active career, Smerdelj also worked as a trainer and has been responsible for the Croatian women's national team since 2017 .

Inline hockey

Smerdelj is also a member of the Croatian national team in inline hockey . He took part in the 2013 World Cup and finished fifth with the team in the second-rate Division I.
