Ludwig Wilhelm of Baden

Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden (born June 12, 1865 in Baden-Baden , † February 23, 1888 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; full name: Ludwig Wilhelm Karl Friedrich Berthold von Baden ) was the younger son of Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden and Grand Duchess Luise (born Princess of Prussia).

Life

Until his untimely death he was the Grand Ducal Prince, (titular) Margrave of Baden and (titular) Duke of Zähringen .

He was a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg and the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg as well as the connection between Rupertia and Heidelberg . After attending university, he was in the military for a short time. As prince of the grand ducal house, he entered the first chamber of the third extraordinary state parliament of the Baden assembly of estates in the summer of 1887 .

According to official reports, Prince Ludwig Wilhelm died of the consequences of pneumonia. There are also reports that he was killed in a duel. His last place of residence was today's Hotel Rheingold in Freiburg i. Br.

He is buried in the grand ducal grave chapel in Karlsruhe, which was commissioned by his parents on the occasion of his early death. His tomb was created by Hermann Volz . A memorial stands on the Warterhöhe near Altensteig .
