Ludwig von Reinhard

Ludwig Reinhard , knight of Reinhard since 1898 (born July 15, 1836 in Nuremberg , † November 19, 1914 in Munich ) was a Bavarian lieutenant general .

Life

Reinhard was the son of a Bavarian major . After graduating from the cadet corps , he was employed as a Junker in the 1st Artillery Regiment of the Bavarian Army in 1856 . With his promotion to lieutenant in 1857, he was transferred to the 2nd and two years later to the 4th artillery regiment . Reinhard was promoted to first lieutenant in 1865 as a fireworks master in the command of the Landau fortress . After three years of service, he returned to the 4th Artillery Regiment.

Promoted to captain there at the end of February 1870 , he led the regiment's parking battery in the war against France . It was used by the ammunition columns of the 3rd and 4th Infantry Divisions , the Artillery Reserve and the Reserve Ammunition Depot of the II Army Corps . After the peace treaty Reinhard was used in the artillery advisory commission and in 1873 he was appointed battery chief in the 3rd field artillery regiment "Queen Mother" . As a major he was placed à la suite of the regiment in 1878 and worked as director of the artillery workshops in Munich until September 11, 1883. Reinhard then received command of the 1st Battalion of the 1st Foot Artillery Regiment and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in this position in 1884 . From October 3, 1886 to May 9, 1891 he acted as regimental commander.

Placed as major general à la suite in the army on May 10, 1891 , Reinhard was assigned to the inspection of the foot artillery and was appointed inspector the following year and promoted to lieutenant general on November 9, 1895.

After being awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown , it was put up for disposition on April 20, 1898 . With the award, the elevation to the personal nobility was connected and he was allowed to call himself Ritter von Reinhard after his entry in the nobility register . He was also the holder of the Military Merit Order II. Class, the Knight's Cross First Class of the Order of Saint Michael (1882), the Red Eagle Order II. Class, the Crown Order I Class and the Grand Cross of the Albrecht Order .
