Luise Neumann-Cosel (* 1986 in Berlin as Luisa Katharina von Neumann-Cosel ) is a German Geoecologist , environmental activist and a founding and board member of the community energy cooperative BürgerEnergie Berlin (BEB).

Life

Neumann-Cosel drove to the Castor protests in Gorleben for the first time when he was 16 . Based on this experience, she studied geoecology in Potsdam and Panama and familiarized herself with the basics of environmental and climate protection . She was funded by the Studienwerk of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and was a research assistant in the field of energy policy for the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the Berlin House of Representatives .

In 2009 she became the press spokesperson for the anti-nuclear alliance “ Broadcast ” and the anti-Castor campaign “ X-thousand times across ”. She spoke in front of more than 100,000 people at the large-scale demonstration against the reactor lifetime extension in 2010 . In 2011 and 2013 she was invited to the Maybrit Illner talk show on nuclear energy.

Neumann-Cosel had the idea that the Berlin citizens as shareholders of a power grid - Cooperative will buy their network and thus a part of the public interest take over themselves. Together with political scientist Arwen Colell, she founded BürgerEnergie Berlin eG (BEB), was first on the board and is now on the supervisory board of the cooperative. Since the late 1980s, the Berlin power grid has been used by the Swedish state company Vattenfall . Berlin's power grid is 35,000 kilometers of power lines and is responsible for supplying 3.5 million people. The concession contract with Vattenfall GmbH expired in 2014 and the state parliament has to decide who will be allowed to use the power grid in the next 20 years. In 2016, BEB made the State of Berlin an offer to jointly purchase the power grid. Luise Neumann-Cosel criticized the concession procedure, saying that it was "tailored to Vattenfall". The BEB filed a request for abuse against the Senate's proceedings with the Federal Cartel Office.

Time at Campact

She has been working for the campaign organization Campact since May 2017 . There she heads a campaign team that is supposed to support the climate movement.

For Campact she takes part in numerous events and discussions. So she experienced a confrontation with Daimler board member Britta Seeger around the IAA .

Honors

In 2013 she was named Electricity Rebel of the Year “for her contribution to the energy transition from below” by the Schönau electricity works .
