Lukas Rüegg (born September 9, 1996 in Russikon ) is a Swiss cyclist who is active on the road and rail .

Athletic career

In 2014 Lukas Rüegg set a new Swiss junior record in the team pursuit with Nico Selenati , Patrick Müller and Martin Schäppi at the UEC European Track Championships with 4: 11.476 minutes . In 2017 he became two-time national track champions, with Manuel Behringer and Philipp Diaz in the team sprint and with Claudio Imhof , Patrick Müller , Reto Müller and Nico Selenati in the team pursuit. He started in the U23 race at the 2017 UCI Road World Championships in Bergen, Norway . In December of that year he won the bronze medal in the team pursuit at the third round of the Track Cycling World Cup in Milton, Canada, together with Gino Mäder , Robin Froidevaux and Gaël Suter .

In the following year, Rüegg won the mountain classification at the Irish stage race Rás Tailteann and finished tenth in the overall classification. In June 2018, he became Swiss U23 road racing champion at the three-country championship in the German Unna .

Lukas Rüegg achieved bronze in the Swiss four-four with Théry Schir , Claudio Imhof and Robin Froidevaux in the team pursuit at the European Games in Minsk in June 2019 . At the 2019/20 World Cup in Cambridge , the Swiss four-man won gold with Rüegg, Robin Froidevaux, Stefan Bissegger and Claudio Imhof.
