Lula Galvão

Lula Galvão (* 22. October 1962 in Brasília as Luiz Guilherme Farias Galvão ) is a Brazilian jazz guitarist , who also serves as arranger and composer worked. He worked in the field of Música Popular Brasileira with Caetano Veloso , Guinga , Rosa Passos and Leila Pinheiro as well as in jazz.

Life

Galvão, who initially learned the violin , began his career as the accompanist of Rosa Passos, with whom he also recorded several albums. He has also performed with Ivan Lins in North America and Japan. He toured North America and Europe with Guinga. He played with Passos at the Bern Jazz Festival . In 1997 Galvão founded the Pagode Jazz Sardinha's Club with Eduardo Neves, Xande Figueiredo, Roberto Marques, Rodrigo Lessa Edson Menezes and Marcos Esguleba (the 1999 album of the same name received a lot of critical acclaim). He toured Europe in the Cello Samba Trio by Jaques Morelenbaum ; with Claudio Roditi , Maurício Einhorn and Raul de Souza he performed at Jazz in Marciac . In 2012 Kenny Barron brought him to his album The Brazilian Knights (Sunnyside). He also recorded with Henri Salvador , Kenny Rankin , Leila Pinheiro, Chico Buarque , Chano Domínguez , Frank Gambale , Dorival Caymmi and Wagner Tiso .

In Guitar Player magazine , Galvão was named one of the top ten Brazilian guitarists. He gave workshops in Brazil, but also in Australia, Japan and Italy.
