history

Lunitzk ( Slavic : "Place where there are hawks") was first mentioned in a document in 1462 in connection with interest payments to the Cronschwitz monastery . The Lunziger ring wall system dates back to the last third of the 14th century and originally enclosed a castle that was located south of the manor. In 1995 ceramics from the 14th to 16th centuries were found in work. The fortification was a high to late medieval manor house. An oak with a trunk circumference of about 6 meters stands on the well-preserved wall. The moat and the castle hill are also well preserved.

In contrast, the Lunzigmühle on the Leuba was first mentioned in a document in 1744. It is uncertain since when this former manor mill actually existed. It is known, however, that it already existed around 1616 at the beginning of the war, but there is no documentary evidence. In 1679 a lease miller was named in Lonzig. In 1948/1949 the mill was expanded. It was possible to grind up to 1968, then the grist business followed. With the turnaround , the feed sales were stopped and the owner went into retirement.

On October 1, 1922, Lunzig was merged with the neighboring village of Hain to form the municipality of Lunzig-Hain. On April 1, 1924, both places became independent again. On July 1, 1950, Kauern was incorporated. On December 31, 2013, Lunzig was incorporated into Langenwetzendorf, and the Leubatal administrative community was dissolved at the same time.
