Lycium eenii is a plant type from the genus of Lycium ( Lycium ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Lycium eenii is a usually 1 to 2, rarely up to 4 m high, rigid, occasionally prostrate shrub . Its leaves are hairless, 20 to 30 mm long and 8 to 12 mm wide.
The flowers are hermaphroditic and five-fold. The calyx is tubular and has a 6 to 7 mm long calyx tube, which is covered with 1 to 2 mm long calyx lobes. The crown is hemispherical and spreading, it is greenish-white in color and has purple veins and corolla lobes. The corolla tube reaches a length of 12 to 15 mm, the corolla lobes are 2.5 to 3 mm long. The stamens are sparsely hairy in the lower quarter.
The fruit is an egg-shaped, red berry that is 7 to 8 mm long and 4 to 5 mm wide.
Occurrence
The species is widespread on the African continent and occurs there in all of Namibia .
Systematics
Within the box thorn ( Lycium ) the species is grouped according to phylogenetic studies in a clade with other ancient world species of the genus. Within this clade, the species is closely related to the species Lycium acutifolium , Lycium shawii , Lycium schweinfurthii , Lycium bosciifolium , Lycium hirsutum and Lycium villosum .
