Lyndeborough is a town in Hillsborough County , New Hampshire in the United States . At the United States Census 2010 Lyndeborough had 1683 residents.

history

The land originally granted by the Massachusetts General Court to Veterans of the First War with Canada from Salem , Massachusetts was originally known as Salem-Canada. John Cram and his family were the first settlers to set up a sawmill here in 1736 . The name Lyndeborough results from a later land grant to a group of settlers, including Benjamin Lynde, who later became Chief Justice of Massachusetts. However, this group of owners never lived in Lyndeborough and may not have visited the settlement. Judge Lynde, for example, lived in Massachusetts, where he presided over the trial that resulted from the Boston Massacre in Suffolk County .

The city has been home to the Lafayette Artillery, founded in 1804, since 1833 .
