Lyndeborough is a town in Hillsborough County , New Hampshire in the United States . At the United States Census 2010 Lyndeborough had 1683 residents.
history
The land originally granted by the Massachusetts General Court to Veterans of the First War with Canada from Salem , Massachusetts was originally known as Salem-Canada. John Cram and his family were the first settlers to set up a sawmill here in 1736 . The name Lyndeborough results from a later land grant to a group of settlers, including Benjamin Lynde, who later became Chief Justice of Massachusetts. However, this group of owners never lived in Lyndeborough and may not have visited the settlement. Judge Lynde, for example, lived in Massachusetts, where he presided over the trial that resulted from the Boston Massacre in Suffolk County .
The city has been home to the Lafayette Artillery, founded in 1804, since 1833 . The city's administration building, the Citizens' Hall , which opened in 1889, is registered on the National Register of Historic Places , as is the Lyndeborough Center Historic District , which includes the Congregational Church built around 1836, the Town Hall built in 1846 and the remains of the town built in 1774 Pound belong.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 80.8 km², of which 80.5 km² is land and 0.3 km² (= 0.38%) is water. Lyndeborough's highest point is 579 m above sea level, where the east ridge of North Pack Monadnock Mountain crosses the western city limits. Other significant elevations in the urban area are Winn Mountain ( 514 m ), Rose Mountain ( 530 m ) and The Pinnacle ( 519 m ).
Lyndeborough is bordered to the northwest by Greenfield , to the north by Francestown , to the northeast by New Boston , to the east by Mont Vernon , to the southeast by Milford , to the south by Wilton and to the southwest by Temple .
Demographics
At the time of the 2000 United States Census, Lyndeborough had 1,585 people. The population density was 19.7 people per km ². There were 587 housing units at an average of 7.3 per km ². Lyndeborough's population was 98.17% White , 0.19% Black or African American , 0.13% Native American , 0.32% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 0.38% said to be of other races and 0.82% named two or more races. 1.64% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of Lyndeboroughs were distributed to 560 households out of which 37.1% were living in children under 18 years of age. 67.7% of households were married, 4.8% had a female head of the household without a husband, and 25.0% were not families. 16.4% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 5.7% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.20.
The population was divided into 26.9% minors, 6.3% 18–24 year olds, 32.6% 25–44 year olds, 27.3% 45–64 year olds and 6.9% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 women there were 102.9 men. For every 100 women over the age of 18, there were 99.8 men.
The median household income in Lyndeborough was 59,688 US dollars and the median family income reached the amount of 70,223 US dollars. The median income for men was $ 37,941, compared to $ 29,327 for women. The per capita income was $ 27,169. 3.3% of the population and 1.2% of families had an income below the poverty line , including 3.0% of minors and 8.4% of the age group 65 and over.
