Lysogorskaya ( Russian Лысогорская ) is a Staniza in the Stavropol region in Russia with 11,174 inhabitants (14 October 2010).
geography
The place is located on the northern edge of the Greater Caucasus, almost 150 km as the crow flies southeast of the regional administrative center of Stavropol, mainly on the right bank of the Kuma tributary Podkumok .
Lyssogorskaya belongs to Georgievsky Rajon and is located 15 km southwest of Georgievsk's administrative center . Stanitsa is the seat and only locality of the rural community (selskoje posselenije) Stanitsa Lyssogorskaya.
history
Stanitsa was founded in 1821 on the left bank of the Podkumok and in 1848 it was moved to its current location on the right bank. It is named after a mountain to the west with the Russian name Lyssaja gora, "Bald Mountain".

Lyssogorskaja is on the regional road 07K-027 (formerly R264), which branches off the federal highway R217 Kawkas (formerly M29) near Pyatigorsk , where Stanitsa changes from the right to the left side of the Podkumok and continues via Neslobnaja to Georgievsk. The 07K-029 branches off initially in a northerly direction, which also runs to Georgievsk via Terski (near Alexandrijskaja ).
The closest railway stations with passenger traffic are in the approximately equally distant cities Georgievsk on the Rostov-on-Don - Makhachkala - Baku route and Pyatigorsk on a branch line from Mineralnye Vody .
