MÜSİAD

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association of Independent Entrepreneurs and Industrialists ( German  for Müstakil Sanayici ve İş Adamları Derneği , MÜSİAD for short ) is a Turkish business association. MÜSİAD is an Islamic-conservative business association. In contrast to the large industrial association TÜSİAD , MÜSIAD members tend to manage small to medium-sized capital.

founding

The organization was founded on May 5, 1990 in contrast to the business association TÜSİAD , which has existed since 1971 . According to a media report, during a MÜSIAD conference in Gaziantep in May 2012, the founding chairman Erol Mehmed Yarar said the following about the goals that were pursued with the establishment of MÜSIAD:

“We founded MÜSIAD for the good pleasure of Allah [...]. Today MÜSIAD is a respected institution inside and outside Turkey. [...]. Capital is a test. You must gain the pleasure of Allah and you must not boast of your gain. Steve Jobs [...] had a fortune of 8 billion US dollars. But having had pancreatic cancer in his last 10 years, he couldn't even eat a worker's food. The end-time struggle is an economic struggle. We work to ensure that the wealth of this world falls into the hands of Muslims and that the poor get rich. As long as the wealth of this world is not in capable hands, those who have them will enslave humanity. The salvation of humanity is the fact that the fortunes of this world pass into the hands of Muslims. It is more significant than conquering Istanbul. "

- Erol Mehmed Yarar : haberler.com

ideology

The organization is an example of the connection between Islamic identity and business liberal thinking. The association establishes the Islamic aspect of this synthesis in its publications through the establishment of an Islamically correct trade ethic through recourse to theological sources and considerations about the economic system of the Ottoman Empire . The latter is presented to the MÜSIAD members as an expression of an era in which Muslims were united and not yet overwhelmed by Western imperialism and decadent lifestyles . This construction of Islamic economic and corporate ethics is intended to justify and legitimize engagement in capitalist economic activity . MÜSIAD members make the acquisition and redistribution of foreign capital the maxim of their activities. The economically liberal component is expressed in the demand for consistent privatization of state-owned companies, export orientation and deregulation as well as a criticism of the support of Western-oriented big business from public funds.

MÜSIAD describes itself as politically independent, but is at least a sympathizer, if not an economic support organization of the long-standing Turkish ruling party for Justice and Development ( Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi , AKP), which it openly supports. After the Justice and Development Party, which had previously ruled alone, failed to achieve the desired absolute majority in the parliamentary elections in Turkey in June 2015 and was dependent on a coalition partner to form a government, MÜSIAD chairman Nail Olpak publicly announced that a coalition of the AKP and the right-wing extremist party the nationalist movement ( Milliyetçi Hareket Partisi , MHP) would be preferred from the point of view of the association. From MÜSIAD's point of view, the second choice would be a coalition of the AKP and the Kemalist Republican People's Party (CHP), and the last choice would be a coalition of the AKP and the Pro- Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP). A government scenario without AKP participation was therefore not up for debate for MÜSIAD, which is nevertheless theoretically possible.

Radical Islamism in the early years

Founding chairman Erol Mehmed Yarar was indicted in Turkey in 1999 for anti-constitutional tendencies. The death penalty was demanded for him before a state security court because he had spoken out in public several times in favor of the reintroduction of the caliphate and the abolition of the Turkish Republic. The caliphate he called for should "control the entire world". In the same year, Yarar handed over the management of MÜSIAD to Ali Bayramoglu after nine years at its head. Former Islamist Yarar, who has long been a companion of many of the AKP's greats , has been President of the Turkish Ski Association since 2014.

Latent anti-Semitic tendencies

MÜSIAD functionaries have repeatedly expressed themselves anti-Semitic, seditious and racist in the past and present. The chairman of the youth organization "Genç MÜSIAD" in Düzce , which appears outside of Turkey as "Young MÜSIAD" , said Serkan Verep, according to a newspaper report from November 2014:

“Because cruelty is Israel's reason for existence. Wherever in this region a bomb explodes, a person loses his life in a terrorist attack or different religious currents quarrel, Israel is always behind it. Behind all that is evil there is always Israel. "

According to a newspaper report from July 2014, the chairman of MÜSIAD in Niğde , Hüsamettin Gümüstepe, said the following:

“The Zionist Jews, the grandchildren of Cain, have unfortunately been responsible for the fact that mankind spits blood since the dawn of mankind, and will continue to be so until Judgment Day. In our holy book, the Koran, the Jews are described as a damned people of prophet murderers. In a hadith narrated by Bukhari , our prophet reports that the Jews will hide behind stones and trees, but all the stones and trees except the Gargat tree will shout: "O Muslim, O servant of Allah, a Jew is behind me, come and kill him! "."

- Hüsamettin Gümüstepe : nigdeanadoluhaber.com

According to the Federal Agency for Civic Education , the reference to the Gargat tree, which can also be found in Article 7 of the Hamas Charter , is a direct call for violence against Jews and evidence of anti-Semitism in the Islamist discourse. The people quoted above did not express themselves as private persons, but as officials and on behalf of MÜSIAD or their youth organization. Neither MÜSIAD as a corporation nor individual functionaries have seen any reason to distance themselves from such statements. In addition, statements of this kind did not result in any disciplinary and / or criminal consequences, which is why it cannot be ruled out that they correspond to the ideological line of the organization.

The former chairman of MÜSIAD in Bandırma , Ihsan Turgut, claimed, according to a newspaper report from May 2015, that bird flu was the work of Israel or "the Jews":

“I think Israel and England have a hand in it. Because in these times, when people are increasingly turning to organic products, organic agriculture and poultry from regional farming, quarantines are being set up throughout the region and thousands of poultry animals are being destroyed due to a virus that I believe Israel and England have us having sent. This is a Jewish machination. "

- Ihsan Turgut : bandirmahaber.net

MÜSIAD was able to position itself excellently in many German cities and municipalities and is perceived and recognized by numerous German universities, IHKs, business associations, municipal business development agencies, as well as state and federal ministries as an independent and honest broker in the German-Turkish business community and the Turkish economy actively supported. To what extent the anti-Semitism openly exhibited by MÜSIAD representatives, at least in Turkey, was and is known to the German interlocutors cannot be assessed.

Relationship with Turkish citizens of non-Muslim faith

The German offshoots of MÜSIAD regularly emphasize the importance of pluralistic principles in Germany, which they require and make use of, especially for themselves as civil society actors in the FRG. However, this principle does not seem to have any validity with regard to the own membership structure and thus the design options for non-Muslim actors within MÜSIAD. The former MÜSIAD chairman Ömer Bolat, who was chairman from 2004 to 2008, was a guest on the television program “MakroMikro” on the Turkish station Habertürk TV in August 2007 . In this broadcast he said that MÜSIAD would not accept any members of the Christian Orthodox or Jewish faith, because for non-Muslim business people there were "more suitable, other associations". With this remark of "more suitable" associations, Bolat implicitly referred to the industrial association TÜSİAD , which is often described by supporters of the AKP and by the media controlled by the AKP as a latently treasonous, Zionist-capitalist association. Thus, on the one hand, the cliché of the unreliable and treacherous non-Muslim was used, on the other hand, a public dismantling of the TÜSIAD, which is often politically in opposition to the Party for Justice and Development (AKP) and its own association, was sought. Until the AKP convention on September 12, 2015, Ömer Bolat was a member of the highest executive body of the long-standing Turkish ruling party AKP, the MKYK.

conspiracy theories

In the course of the nationwide protests in Turkey in 2013 , which sparked off at the Gezi events, the statements of MÜSIAD, which were widespread in German-speaking countries, were balanced, affirming the right of assembly and calling for peaceful expression of opinion. In Turkey, however, MÜSIAD followed the reading of the ruling AKP and interpreted the civil protests as conspiracies against Turkey and thus against the Justice and Development Party ruling with an absolute majority in parliament , which were controlled “from outside” or “above” . The former MÜSIAD chairman Ömer Bolat spoke of three lobbies that wanted to hinder the economic rise of Turkey by stirring up the Gezi protests: these are the interest lobby (an anti-Semitic cliché widespread in Islamic countries), the alcohol lobby and the advertising lobby. The jealousy of Turkey that prevailed in the west and in the countries surrounding Turkey had united, and so "those" gave the starting signal for the protests. The current MÜSIAD chairman Nail Opak also made use of anti-Semitic prejudices and warned that “the interest lobby” wanted to enrich itself from the chaotic conditions in Turkey. Referring to the protests in Turkey in 2013, Olpak said that at a certain point in time it was no longer a legitimate protest, but an insult to the then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan , and that MÜSIAD could not tolerate such a “display of terror” .

One year after the corruption scandal in Turkey became public in 2013 , in which u. a. four AKP government members were directly involved, a symposium of the UTESAV Foundation took place in the MÜSIAD regional headquarters in Istanbul on December 17, 2014, which was attended by numerous MÜSIAD functionaries and members. The title of the event was “The Turkish Legal System and the attempted coup on December 17th”. According to the AKP's interpretation, the corruption scandal was interpreted as an attempted coup. Driving force behind this "attempted coup", as well as u. a. also behind the Gezi protests is a “higher power” (“üst akıl”). It is part of the standard repertoire of Turkish conspiracy theorists to portray Turkey as surrounded by dark and Islamophobic powers, which can easily be identified as Israel, the USA and Europe, optionally dominated by Germany, Great Britain or France. These “powers” are also proclaimed by MÜSIAD representatives as the driving force behind attempts at overthrowing and sabotage, but they are rarely specifically named.

The offshoots of MÜSIAD in Germany are also making their structures available for the dissemination of these confrontational conspiracy theories in the German-Turkish community, contrary to the image conveyed to the German public of an organization dedicated to partnership and integration. According to a media report from January 19, 2014, the AKP member of parliament for the province of Ağrı , Ekrem Celebi, at the invitation of MÜSIAD Hanover, whose chairman Naci Aydin thanked him afterwards, also presented the events in Turkey as an attempted coup by foreign powers :

“İhracatımız gelişti. Kendi helikopterimizi yaptık. AB ülke ekonomileri% 0.1 oranlarında büyürken, güzel ülkemiz% 5′lerin üzerinde büyüdü. Bu rakamlar tabii ki dış güçleri rahatsız etti. Bundan dolayı ülkemizde son dönemde bir dost [spelling mistake in the original] modern darbe gerçekleştirilmek isteniyor. ”

“Our export has developed. We made our own helicopter. While the economies of the European Union grew by 0.1%, those of our beautiful country grew by over 5%. These numbers naturally bothered the foreign powers. That is why people have been trying lately to have a postmodern coup carried out in our country. "

- Ekrem Celebi : Posta Gazetesi

Relationship to Islamist groups

According to a media report from December 2014, Mehmet Yavuz, the general secretary and spokesman for the Kurdish- Islamist “ Party of the Just Cause ” ( Hür Dava Partisi , HÜDA PAR for short), was invited to speak at a conference organized by MÜSIAD in Mardin . The Hüda PAR is regarded as the political wing of the banned Kurdish Sunni -islamistischen terrorist organization Hizbullah , which is not with the Lebanese Hezbollah or the Iranian Hezbollah is to be confused. During his speech, Yavuz emphasized that Hezbollah in Turkey is an "undeniable reality" and that it is advisable and very easy to get in touch with it in order to form your own picture of Hezbollah.

In September 2014, a MÜSIAD delegation paid a “courtesy visit” to HÜDA PAR in Diyarbakır, according to a media report. According to a further media report, this courtesy visit was followed by a return visit by HÜDA PAR to the premises of MÜSIAD in Diyarbakir in December 2014, during which “joint discussions” took place.

Attitude to questions of homo-, trans- and intersexuality

As a supporter of the "Platform of National Will" initiated by the AKP in 2013, MÜSIAD makes the following statements on homosexual, trans and intersexuality in Turkey :

“Ahlakımız bizim değerimizdir. Eşcinsel sapkınlığı meşru bir eylemmiş gibi toplumun önüne koyanları millet affetmez. Özgürlük adına günahın alenîleşmesini meşrulaştırmak bu milletin değerlerine yapılan bir suikasttır. Bu girişim Milletin İradesiyle yine başarısız olacaktır. ”

“Our honor is precious to us. Those who present homosexual heresy to the people as legitimate acts will not be forgiven by the nation. Legitimizing the spread of sin in the name of freedom is an assault on national values. These efforts will again be unsuccessful by virtue of the national will. "

- Milli Irade Platformu : milliiradeplatformu.com

The activist alliance "LGBTI News Turkey" qualifies the passage quoted above as " Hate Speech ".

However, MÜSIAD Berlin sees diversity as an enrichment of a pluralistic society and has a code of conduct regarding otherness within the framework of partnership behavior, in which "harassment, disadvantage and bullying due to

    • z. B. Antigypsyism / Antinegrism / Anti-Slavism

documented as racist acts. These actions involve measures and can lead to the club committee. Detailed information can be found on the website of the Berlin branch.

Foreign policy views

Neo-Omanism

During the 2006 Lebanon War , according to various media reports, the MÜSIAD board in a public statement, and in ideological agreement with the neo-Omanisism promoted by the AKP , advocated a military presence for Turkish forces in the Middle East. This was justified by the historical legacy of today's Turkey. A stationing of Turkish troops in Lebanon legitimized by a UN resolution was therefore given priority, while the stationing of UN blue helmets on the Israeli- Syrian border was rejected. The Hezbollah has been designated as a legitimate part of the Lebanese government and the Lebanese resistance. MÜSIAD rejected a demilitarization of Hezbollah, as this was part of the Israeli strategy to break the Lebanese resistance. The UN peacekeeping forces were asked to attack Israel militarily if Israel continued to bomb Lebanon despite the presence of blue helmets.

Jerusalem question

According to media reports, the then MÜSIAD President Ömer Bolat took part in 2007 as an invited guest at a conference in Istanbul called the “International Jerusalem Meeting”. Other invited guests were therefore u. a. Representatives of Hamas and Hezbollah, the advisor to the then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan Nabi Avcı , the spokesman for the Palestinian "Jerusalem Movement" Raed Salah, the former Lebanese Prime Minister Selim al-Hoss , the former Egyptian Prime Minister Aziz Sidqi , who is considered the founder of the Lebanese Hezbollah current General Secretary of the Iranian "Jerusalem Conference" Ali Akbar Mohtaschami , as well as the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine Muhammad Ahmad Hussein . In the context of the conference, which opened with recitations from the Koran and which apparently went tumultuously, the former Egyptian Prime Minister Sidqi said that nothing would be achieved with such a conference. What has been torn from you with force and strength can only be regained with force and strength.

In addition to a large number of other organizations, MÜSIAD supports the "Platform of National Will" initiated by the AKP in 2013, whose public declaration contains the following passage:

“Our first Qibla Jerusalem is the legacy of ʿUmar ibn al-Chattāb and Saladin to us. We will continue to protect our legacy of opposing the Zionist and alienated propaganda language of Jerusalem as a Jewish city and to take a resolute stance towards those who ridicule our Qibla Kaaba . "

- Milli Irade Platformu : milliiradeplatformu.com

Various regional associations of the youth organization "Genç MÜSİAD" and "Young MÜSIAD" publicly state that peace in the region will only be possible when Israel is "expelled" from the illegally occupied territories, which in the opinion of the said youth organization includes Jerusalem. has been.

Competing associations

Well-known competitors of the MÜSIAD are, in addition to TÜSİAD , the medium-sized association TUSKON, which due to its proximity to the politically disgraced Gülen movement, however, is losing massively in influence and social design possibilities, as well as the similarly to MÜSIAD also tightly AKP-loyal association TÜMSIAD, its Members, however, mostly come from the politically influential Menzil movement, a Turkish branch of the Naqschbandīya movement.
