St. Andreas and Matthias (Lich-Steinstrasse)
St. Andreas and Matthias is a Roman Catholic branch church in the Jülich district of Lich-Steinstrasse in the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The church is dedicated to St. Apostle Andrew and St. Apostle Matthias consecrated. It belongs to the Jülich large parish of the Holy Spirit.
history
The church was built between 1986 and 1988 according to plans by the Mönchengladbach architect Döhmen. The church is the replacement for the old parish church of Lich , which had to give way to the Hambach opencast mine in 1986 . The church is a single-nave construction made of concrete and brick with a free-standing bell tower .
Furnishing
In the church there are still some pieces of equipment from the old church, such as windows by Paul Franz Bonnekamp and Johannes Beeck, both designed around 1955. The remaining windows were made by Hubert Spierling in 1988.
organ
The organ is a work of the organ builder Georges Heintz from 1992 and has 21 stops . It was built with a slider shop. The instrument has mechanical playing and stop actions.
