In 1937 a coin treasure with 4032 Pomeranian coins was found near Karrin near Wolgast . The burial vessel was plowed out, but the prehistoric scientist Wilhelm Petzsch at the University of Greifswald was immediately informed, who completely recovered the find. They are coins from the burial period from 1270 to 1275. The coins were in a late- turn ceramic vessel that was still in a linen sack. In the vicinity of the find, more late-turning shards and animal bones were found in a layer of burns. The entire find consists of bracteates (hollow pennies) that come from Wolgast , Stralsund , Loitz , Demmin , Gützkow , Gollnow , Stargard , Rostock and Lübeck . It also contained 529 indeterminable Pomeranian pfennigs. 216 of the pieces are embossed, i.e. H. older coins were struck again with a different die. Arthur Suhle from the Münzkabinett Berlin restored, viewed and assessed the entire find, but it was then moved back to Stralsund, except for specimen copies.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the coins, even the experts could not make a definitive date. The found vessel is also not necessarily usable for dating, as Slavic ceramics were used for a long time in early German times due to their high quality. The Wolgast Mint is mentioned in a document between 1222 and 1253; 62% of the find comes from here.

The burial pot is still in the Stralsund Museum . The coin treasure is said to have been moved from there to the Münzkabinett in Berlin shortly before the end of the war . The coins are not in the Stralsund Museum's holdings.

In the Münzkabinett in Berlin, however, only the obligatory record from Karrin is available, but not the entire find. This suggests that the remaining, larger part of the coin find was lost towards the end of the Second World War .
