Mārtiņš Cipulis (born November 29, 1980 in Cēsis , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Kurbads in the Latvian ice hockey league since 2017 .
Career
Mārtiņš Cipulis began his career as a hockey player at HK Liepājas Metalurgs , for whom he was active from 1998 to 2000 in both the East European Hockey League and the Latvian Ice Hockey League , and with whom he was Latvian champion for the first time in 2000 . He then moved to their league rivals HK Riga 2000 , with whom he reached the final of the Latvian ice hockey league in the following six years, with the attacker and his team becoming champions in 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006, and vice-champions in 2002 and 2003. In addition, Cipulis was with Riga in 2001 and 2002 runner-up in the East European Hockey League and reached second place in the IIHF Continental Cup in the 2005/06 season .
After Cipulis played for one season each from 2006 to 2008 for HK Aquacity ŠKP Poprad from the Slovakian extra league and Metallurg Schlobin from the Belarusian extra league, he returned to his homeland before the 2008/09 season , where he signed a contract with Dinamo Riga received from the newly formed Continental Hockey League . For Dinamo he completed two seasons in the KHL, in which he ran up in 124 games and scored 19 goals. In June 2010 Cipulis was signed by Amur Khabarovsk , but returned to Dinamo Riga after a year and a successful trial contract.
At the end of the 2011/12 season, his contract with Dinamo expired and Cipulis was initially without a club before he was signed by HC Lev Prague in December 2012 .
Between 2013 and 2015 he played again for Dinamo Riga in the KHL.
In the 2016/17 season Cipulis played for EHC Lustenau in the Alps Hockey League (2nd Austrian League).
International
For Latvia , Cipulis took part in the U20 Junior B World Championships in 2000 , as well as the A World Championships in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2011 . He was also on the Latvian squad for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and 2010 in Vancouver .
