MLB Network is a US television broadcaster whose programming focuses on baseball- related content . The station is 67% owned by Major League Baseball , with AT&T , Comcast , Charter Communications and Cox Communications holding shares in it. The broadcaster's headquarters and studios are located in Secaucus , New Jersey .

Live broadcasts of games

Regular season

During the regular season (Regular Season) MLB Network shows several MLB games per week. The two markets of the participating teams are affected by a blackout policy , so in these regions either another live game or a regular program is shown.

Postseason games were broadcast for the first time in the 2012 season . The first broadcast was a game between the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics from Comerica Park in Detroit on October 7, 2012. Postseason broadcasts are scheduled for at least the 2021 season.

International games

International games are occasionally shown on the MLB Network. This includes in particular games from the World Baseball Classic and the del Caribe series . In 2014, a series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks was also broadcast from the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney in collaboration with ESPN .

Spring training

Games in the context of spring training , the preseason of the MLB, are also broadcast on the MLB Network.

Daily shows

MLB Network produces a wide range of its own TV shows. These include:

  • MLB Tonight: 60-minute format with live updates, highlights and analysis of games. The show won the Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Studio Show - Daily in 2011 and 2018 .
  • Hot Stove: Counterpart to MLB Tonight during the off-season from November to March.
  • Quick Pitch: 60-minute highlight show for the games of the day.
  • Intentional Talk: Show in classic sports radio format. Shows interviews with players, managers and sports experts.
  • Clubhouse Confidential: 30-minute format with a focus on Sabermetrics and statistical game analysis.

MLB Network regularly shows documentaries such as 42 - The True Story of a Sports Legend , as well as baseball- themed dramas and comedies .
