Secaucus is a city in Hudson County , New Jersey , United States . In the census in the year 2010 a population was registered by 16,264.

history

Secaucus was originally established as a borough by New Jersey Senate law on March 12, 1900 from parts of North Bergen . On June 7, 1900, Secaucus was incorporated as a city and replaced the Secaucus district due to the referendum of June 5, 1917. Before the 1950s, Secaucus was a gathering point for pig farms , animal carcass processing plants and car recycling companies , which gave the city the reputation of being one of the most odorous being in metropolitan New York.

In later decades, Secaucus became more of a commuter town. The New Jersey Monthly Magazine ranked Secaucus as the eleventh best place to live in its 2008 ranking of New Jersey's "Best Places to Live".
