MM 80 Reefer is a ship from architects Multi Maritime Forde designed cooling and container ship type . Two units of this type of ship were built. The slightly modified ship type “ MM 80 Reefer Mark II ”, of which four units were built between 2006 and 2009, is based on the draft .

history

The ships were built at Vaagland Båtbyggeri shipyard in Vågland. The hulls of the ships were supplied by the Stocznia Marynarki Wojennej shipyard in Gdynia .

The ships were originally built for Egil Ulvan Rederi in Trondheim and the Coldstore & Transport Group in Sortland . When Eimskip took over the majority of the Coldstore & Transport Group in 2004, the second of the two ships came to Eimskip before it was built. At the end of 2005, Eimskip also bought the recently delivered Kristian With from Egil Ulvan Rederi and renamed her Svartfoss .

Eimskip sold Storfoss to NorLines in 2009. The new name of the ship was Nordkinn . In 2017, NorLines sold the ship to NTS Shipping Færøerne.

description

The ships are propelled by a four-stroke, nine- cylinder diesel engine made by MAN (type: 9L27 / 38) with an output of 3060 kW , which acts on a variable-pitch propeller with Becker rudder  via a reduction gear . The ships reach a speed of 16  knots . They are each equipped with a transverse thruster control system in the bow area with 500 kW power and in the stern area with 350 kW power. A Stamford generator driven by the main engine with 1140  kVA apparent power and two diesel generator sets, each of which has a Stamford generator with 556 kVA driven by a Scania engine with 496 kW output, are used to generate electricity.

The ships are equipped with multiple cargo holds fitted - the first built Kristian With four who later built Storfoss three cargo spaces on the tank top , the steerage spread and the main deck.

Temperature-controlled cargo can be transported in the holds. The temperature can be set individually in each cargo space. The cargo space is 4345 m³ on a 1730 m² area. Around 1800 pallets can be transported in the rooms.

The holds can be reached via a side door that can be opened upwards, approximately amidships on the port side of the ships. Two lifting platforms, each 3.05 m × 1.40 m in size and capable of lifting 4.1 t, are installed here.

Behind the deckhouse there is a protective deck, behind it the lower lying main deck. 775 m² are available on deck. 28 40-foot containers and four 20-foot containers, as well as other loads, can be transported here. There are 30 connections for refrigerated containers available. The deck cargo may not weigh more than 1250 t.

A deck crane from TTS Marine is available for cargo handling . The crane, which can lift up to 50 t, is on the port side behind the side gate.

The superstructures are located in the forward area of the ships. In the deckhouse there are ten cabins for the ship's crew , nine single and one double cabin. The ships are usually operated with a crew of eight. The closed bridge spans the entire width of the ship. The two cams are integrated into the bridge and extend a little beyond the width of the fuselage for a better overview.

The hulls of the ships are reinforced with ice ( ice class C).
