Chris MacAllister (born May 9, 1956 in Indianapolis ) is an American entrepreneur and former racing driver .

Entrepreneur

Chris MacAllister studied with degrees in Economics and Finance at the Ball State University in Muncie in the US state of Indiana . After graduating, he worked for the family-owned company MacAllister Machinery Company, which was founded by his grandfather . Construction vehicles and construction equipment from Caterpillar are sold at the Indianapolis site .

Racing career

MacAllister began motorcycling in the early 1970s . He drove motocross races for almost a decade and competed primarily in regional and national competitions. After the end of the motorcycle era, he turned to historic motorsport. He restored an AC Cobra and competed in historic sports car races in North America from 1983. The first historic monoposto was a McLaren M19A , with which Denis Hulme and Peter Revson competed in the 1971 Formula 1 World Championship . MacAllister became known as the owner of the Ferrari 312T2 with the chassis number 026. Niki Lauda won the Belgian and Monaco Grand Prix with the car in 1976 . MacAllister acquired the racing car in 2001.

He was also active in professional motorsport. He contested the 24 Hours of Daytona and was a four-time starter in the 24 Hours of Le Mans . In none of his four missions he could classify.
