The sculpture Madonna and Child in the St-Genès church in Saint-Genès-de-Lombaud , a French commune in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was created in the 13th century. In 1908, the Gothic sculpture was added to the list of listed objects ( Base Palissy ) in France as Monument historique .

The approximately one meter high sculpture made of walnut wood depicts the seated Mary with a crown on her head. The baby Jesus sits on her left knee . Old photos show that in the 19th and 20th In the 19th century, there were even more recent decorations on the sculpture (see individual records) that were removed during a restoration.
