Madonna and Child in Sadirac

The sculpture Madonna and Child in the Church of St-Martin in Sadirac , a French commune in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was created in the 13th or 14th century. In 1980 the Gothic sculpture was added to the list of listed objects ( Base Palissy ) in France as Monument historique .

The 1.02 meter high oak sculpture was painted white for a long time. The seated Mary is represented as queen , she holds the scepter in her right hand and the blessing baby Jesus sits on her left knee with the globe in her left hand.
