Madonna and Child in Saillans

The sculpture Madonna and Child in the Church of St-Seurin in Saillans , a French commune in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was created in the 15th century. In 1951, the Gothic sculpture was added to the list of listed buildings ( Base Palissy ) in France as Monument historique .

The 1.20 meter high alabaster sculpture probably comes from the previous building of today's church. The sculpture, which is very damaged, still shows remains of a colored frame .

Mary , depicted with a crown, carries the baby Jesus in her right arm and in her left hand she holds a lily.
