Mainxe is a village and a former French community with 655 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). It belonged to the arrondissement of Cognac and the canton of Jarnac (until 2015: canton of Segonzac ). The inhabitants are called Mainxois .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Mainxe and Gondeville were merged to form Commune nouvelle Mainxe-Gondeville . The former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Gondeville.
geography
Mainxe is about 14 kilometers east-southeast of Cognac . The Charente limits the area to the north. Neighboring towns to Mainxe are Jarnac in the north, Gondeville in the north-east, Saint-Même-les-Carrières in the east and south-east, Segonzac in the south and south-west and Bourg-Charente in the west and north-west.
