Maja Ivarsson (born October 2, 1979 in Åhus , Schonen , Götaland , Sweden ) is a Swedish singer and the front woman of the Swedish indie rock band The Sounds , which was founded in 1998 in Helsingborg , Sweden by Felix Rodriguez, Johan Bengtsson and Fredrik Nilsson was founded.

In 2002, Ivarsson worked with Andreas Mattson on the song Free Free Free , which did not appear on the soundtrack to the movie Big Girls Cry .

In 2006 she appeared in the music video for the song for the film Snakes on a Plane, Snakes on a Plane (Bring It) . The film gives her and the band greater prominence.

In March 2011, Ivarsson was part of a promotional campaign for the US hair care product manufacturer Sebastian Professional. Already in January 2011 the sounds played at the Berlin Fashion Week.

Ivarsson can also be found in the song We are Rebels on the 2008 album She's a Machine by the Swedish band Alice in Videoland .

You can also find it in the song Guts on the 2011 album Dirty Work by the American pop-punk band All Time Low .

Another collaboration is the piece Tonight by the Canadian DJ and EDM producer Felix Cartal with her.

The song As If We Never Won was written with the Swedish pop musician and music producer Andreas Per Kleerup .

Influences

Ivarsson found the 1975 released song Love Is the Drug of Art rock - band Roxy Music a great inspiration. Allusions to the song and the singer Bryan Ferry can be found in the single Rock 'n' Roll of Sounds. Depeche Mode and Bruce Springsteen were popular when Ivarsson was young. She found the Depeche Mode song My Secret Garden fascinating until her brother translated the lyrics (she didn't speak English at the time ). As a child, she adored the British rock musician Billy Idol . Her own band is often compared to the American new wave band Blondie . Ivarsson has a wide range of musical tastes; a. Electronica , Britney Spears , Otis Redding , Dolly Parton , Slipknot and Simon & Garfunkel .

Personal

Ivarsson started playing the horn at the age of 8 . She started playing guitar at the age of 13 . She is a composer and songwriter . She learned karate , Thai boxing and kick boxing . She has six well-known tattoos :

  • A sun on the inside of her left forearm
  • An anchor on the outside of her left forearm
  • Modesty Blaise , a cartoon and fictional character on his right forearm
  • Three points between her right thumb and forefinger
  • A bird on the right side of her neck
  • Lip prints on the inside of her right bicep

The three-point tattoo and the anchor are reminiscent of her father who was a sailor .

In a 2014 interview, Ivarsson said she was engaged. Their son Dante was born on February 16, 2015.
