Malcolm Brown (production designer)
Malcolm F. Brown (born August 10, 1903 in New Jersey , † August 29, 1967 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film architect who won the Oscar for best production design and again for the Oscar in this category was nominated.
Life
Brown began his career as an art director and production designer in the Hollywood film industry in 1938 with the film Dr. Kildare: His first case and worked on the stage equipment of over sixty films until 1966.
At the Academy Awards in 1956 he was nominated, along with Cedric Gibbons , Edwin B. Willis and Hugh Hunt, for the Oscar for best production design in the black and white film And Tomorrow I'll Cry (I'll Cry Tomorrow, 1955), in the director Daniel Mann Filmed the life story of Broadway star Lillian Roth with Susan Hayward , Richard Conte and Eddie Albert in the leading roles .
1957 he won along with Gibbons, Willis and F. Keogh Gleason Oscar for Best Production Design in the black and white film for Somebody Up There Likes Me ( Somebody Up There Likes Me , 1956), that of Robert Wise filmed biography of middleweight boxer Rocky Graziano with Paul Newman , Pier Angeli, and Everett Sloane .
