The Central Moluccas ( Maluku Tengah in Indonesian ) are a government district ( Kabupaten ) in the Indonesian province of Maluku .
361,287 people live on the Central Moluccas (2010 census).
geography
The Central Moluccas have an area of 29,153 km². They consist of the center of Seram Island , the Banda Islands and the Ambon Islands (excluding the autonomous city of Ambon ), Haruku , Saparua , Molana , Nusalaut , Manuk , Serua , Nila and Teun . Apart from the north coast of Seram on the Seram Sea , the islands of the administrative district are located in the Banda Sea .
The capital is Masohi , Serams on the south coast.
The Kabupaten is divided into the sub-districts ( Kecamatan ) Banda , Tehoru , Amahai , Kota Masohi , Teluk Elpaputih , Teon Nila Serua , Saparua , Nusalaut , Pulau Haruku , Salahutu , Leihitu , Leihitu Barat ( western Leihitu ), Seram Utara ( northern Seram ) and Seram Barat Utara ( Northwest Seram )
