Mamar Kassey's style in Niger is attributed to musique tradi-modern (also néotraditionnelle ), i.e. a contemporary further development of traditional African music . In the western context, they are often classified in the world music categories of ethnojazz , ethnopop , afropop or worldbeat . In comparison with the Malian musicians Ali Farka Touré and Boubacar Traoré , who practiced a similar style, Mamar Kassey's use of modern instruments such as the electric guitar over traditional acoustic instruments and a call-and-response pattern for singing is more important Background. The classic instruments used by Mamar Kassey include the Kalangou drum and the Komsa and Molo lutes .
