Manal el-Bahraoui ( Arabic منال البحراوي, DMG Manāl al-Baḥrāwī ; * January 6, 1994 ) is a Bahraini middle-distance runner of Moroccan origin who has been eligible to compete in Bahrain since 2017.
Athletic career
Manal el-Bahraoui gained her first international experience at the 2010 Arab Junior Championships in Cairo , where she won the bronze medal in the 800-meter run . In August she took part over 1000 meters in the first ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where she won the B final in 2: 53.87 minutes. The following year she was at the Junior African Championships in Gaborone sixth over 800 meters, as well as at the World Youth Championships near Lille shortly thereafter. Over 400 meters she took part in the Pan-Arab Championships in al-Ain in October , where she was fifth in 57.37 s. The following year she won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona in 2: 03.09 min behind the Americans Ajeé Wilson and Jessica Judd from the United Kingdom.
In 2017 el-Bahroui started for Bahrain at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku , where she finished sixth with 2: 04.49 minutes in the final. In 2018 she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time , where she won the bronze medal in 2: 02.69 minutes behind the Chinese Wang Chunyu and Margarita Mukaschewa from Kazakhstan.
In 2011 el-Bahraoui became the Moroccan champion in the 400-meter run .
