Manfred Jakob Dott (born October 30, 1940 in Koblenz-Metternich ) is a German politician . He was Parliamentary State Secretary for Transport in the de Maizière government of the 10th GDR People's Chamber .

Life

After graduating from primary school, Manfred Dott trained as a plumber and plumber. In the 1960s he was a sympathizer of the APO and ran unsuccessfully in the Bundestag election in 1969 in the Bundestag constituency of Koblenz . He was a member of the chemical-paper-ceramic union for six years and was involved in the tariff commission for Rhineland-Palatinate.

Manfred Dott was a member of the DKP for two years . From 1971 to 1972 he studied social sciences for two semesters at the branch of the Franz-Mehring-Institut in Berlin-Biesdorf , a party school in East Berlin for DKP functionaries.

In 1973 he moved to the GDR with a daughter and initially spent almost a year in the Barby Castle reception center . During this time he was hired first as a stoker in the reception center and later to work in the Schönebeck tractor factory near Magdeburg. After his release from the reception center, Dott took a job as a plumber in a Halberstadt district construction company and, after a probationary period, was also granted GDR citizenship . Then Dott made up the 10th grade at the district adult education center.

Manfred Dott submitted 14, according to other sources 19, exit applications , all of which were rejected. Finally, in 1977 he was offered a degree in structural engineering at the engineering school for civil engineering in Magdeburg . Until 1989 he worked as a civil engineer and chief engineer at the Magdeburg Housing Combine.

In 1989 Manfred Dott became a member of the New Forum , but soon resigned and in 1989 was involved in the founding of the Saxony-Anhalt Regional Association of the German Social Union (DSU). There he was then state chairman for Saxony-Anhalt and a member of the executive committee. In 1990 he was elected to the People's Chamber for the DSU and was Parliamentary State Secretary for Transport in the de Maizière government from April to October 1990 . He then worked in various state ministries in Saxony-Anhalt until his retirement in 2005 , initially in the Ministry of the Interior and finally in the Ministry of Transport , where he was also chairman of the staff council for several years . From 1993 to 2000, he was also mayor of Altenbrak as a CDU member, and in this function he was also chairman of the Hochharz administrative association for three years .

He has been a member of the Pirate Party since June 2012 . He was elected to fifth place on the state list of the Pirate Party of Saxony-Anhalt for the 2013 federal election and, in absentia, was elected to be a direct candidate for the federal constituency Burgenland - Saalekreis (constituency 73). He received 2.0% of the first votes and 1.7% of the second votes in his constituency and was unable to enter the Bundestag via the state list.
