Manfred Koch (Germanist)

Manfred Koch (born December 19, 1955 in Stuttgart ) is a German literary scholar , essayist and literary critic .

Life

Manfred Koch studied philosophy , history and German at the University of Tübingen . In 1988 he received his doctorate there with a dissertation on poetics by Hofmannsthal and Rilke . From 1988 to 1991 he was employed by the DAAD as a lecturer for German language and literature at the University of Thessaloniki . From 1991 to 1998 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Giessen . There he completed his habilitation in 2001.

Until 2004, Koch was a substitute professor for modern German literature at the University of Tübingen . From 2004 to 2008 he was the responsible co-organizer of the poetics lectureship . He now teaches at the University of Basel . In the summer of 2010 and 2011, he taught at Middlebury College in Vermont.

Since 1996 he has been writing articles for the features section of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung . (Examples :) He also publishes within the series of the Swiss Vontobel Foundation . And he regularly writes radio essays for the station SWR2 .

Manfred Koch is married to the author Angelika Overath . He has been living in Sent in Switzerland since 2007 .
