Angelika Overath (born July 17, 1957 in Karlsruhe ) is a German writer and journalist .

life and work

Overath studied German , history , Italian and empirical cultural studies in Tübingen and received his doctorate in 1986 with a thesis on blue in modern poetry . She then worked as an author in Greece for three years and returned to Germany in 1991. Overath now lives in Sent (Lower Engadine, Switzerland).

During his studies, Overath wrote for the Schwäbisches Tagblatt and the magazine TransAtlantik . Later she wrote regularly reports and essays for the newspapers Frankfurter Rundschau , the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ), the NZZ am Sonntag , as well as for Die Zeit , for the travel magazine Merian and Das Magazin , for the magazines du , GEO and mare as well as for the Series of publications by the Vontobel Foundation .

Since 1998 she has mainly published prose works ; she has also published several anthologies . She is a lecturer at the Swiss journalism school MAZ . She dedicated her novel, She revolves around , to Henrike Lähnemann , published in 2014 . After moving to the Engadin , she learned the Rhaeto-Romanic language and became a member of the Rhaeto-Romanic writers' association (Uniun per la Litteratura Rumantscha). and published (as of 2018) two volumes of poetry in the second language.

Angelika Overath is married to the literary scholar Manfred Koch and has three children.
