career

At the Sauerland fusion club from the Märkisches Kreis , Rot-Weiß Lüdenscheid, the young striker Manfred Lopatenko made his debut on September 4, 1977 in the away game against SC Fortuna Köln in the 2nd Bundesliga. At the end of the round - after the coaching change from Klaus Hilpert to Anton Burghardt in January 1978 - the climber finished in 13th place and thus held the class. After that, the red and whites had to complain about the loss of the two goal scorers Elmar Juergens and Helmut Reiners . Under the experienced coach Herbert Burdenski , the young talent Lopatenko came in 1978/79 alongside his teammates Hans-Jürgen Offermanns and Paul Scheermann on 21 second division appearances in which he scored three goals, but Lüdenscheid did not achieve the sporting goal of relegation with 19th place. Subsequently, the team from the Nattenberg stadium remained in the 2nd Bundesliga due to the license withdrawal from FC St. Pauli and the return of the license from Westfalia Herne .

In the 1979/80 season Lopatenko increased his stakes to 36 games and scored ten goals for the team around goalkeeper Heinz-Josef Koitka and the two other attackers Ranko Petkovic (36-13) and Klaus Wolf (32-14). With the 16th rank, the class was received. Before the round of 1980/81, the new coach Günter Luttrop had to cope with the departures of Koitka and Günter Kuczinski . In the 22 relay, RWL took 20th place and was therefore not qualified for the single-track 2nd Bundesliga, which started in 1981/82. The last second division game for Lopatenko took place on May 16, 1981 in a 1-1 home draw against VfB Oldenburg. Uwe Helmes , Petkovic and Lopatenko formed Lüdenscheid's attack line. In this series, the left winger had played 39 league games and scored three goals.

Lopatenko later played for SC Eintracht Hamm and was champions of the Oberliga Westfalen in 1983 and 1985 . After his playing career, Lopatenko worked as a coach, including at the DFB base in Arnsberg .
