Manuel de Herédia Caldeira Cabral (born April 28, 1968 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese economist and from November 26, 2015 as an independent in the cabinet of Costa I, Portugal's Minister of Economic Affairs .

Professional background

After primary and secondary school in the municipality of Carcavelos , Caldeira Cabral started his professional career as a journalist in Lisbon for the business paper Diário Económico . He later worked for the National Association of Insurance Companies in Portugal. In 1992 he began his studies at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Applied Economics to 1996 and took a master . During his time at the university he was also an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics at Minho University in Braga , 1994-1996 and 2001-2004. In the later years between 2004 and 2007 he was also a professor at the Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa'e in East Timor on a development program of the Portuguese Universities Foundation.

He has been an auxiliary professor at the University of Minho since 2004 , but went to England that same year and received a Doctor of Philosophy in economics from the University of Nottingham . His curriculum includes several research projects that deal with Portugal's international trade and exports. A current work, together with other colleagues from the University of Minho, is in preparation. It deals with the topic "Internationalization of the National Health Market" in Angola , Brazil , USA and Germany .
