Marcel Bon
Marcel Bon (born March 17, 1925 in Picardy , † May 11, 2014 in Woincourt , buried in Port-le-Grand ) was a French botanist , mycologist and university professor . He was one of the most important specialists agarics . Bon was a member of several scientific associations and co-founder of a major mycological journal. Its botanical-mycological author's abbreviation is " Bon ".
Life
Marcel Bon studied pharmacy , first in Amiens and during the Second World War in Lille . Between 1950 and 1977 he was a pharmacist in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme , where he opened a medical analysis laboratory. He was also a professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lille .
Initially drawn to botany, he was at the Société linnéenne Nord-Picardie , the Linnaeus Society in Amiens. The interest in mushrooms arose from his pharmaceutical studies. He later received lessons from Marcelle Le Gal , who also came from Picardy. He also had long and frequent exchanges with Henri Romagnesi .
After a long illness, Bon died on May 11, 2014.

In 1958 he became a member of the French Mycological Society ( Société Mycologique de France ). When a section for mycology was established at the Linnaeus Society in Amiens in 1961, Bon had a leading role. In 1971, together with Jean-Marie Géhu, he founded Documents Mycologiques , an important mycological journal. In 1973 he joined the Mycological Society of the North ( Société Mycologique du Nord ). In 1975 he became a member of the Board of Directors of the French Mycological Society and in 2006 he was made an honorary member.
In 1987 he published together with the artists John Wilkinson and Denys Ovenden the work The Mushrooms and Toadstools of Britain and North-western Europe , which contains over 1,500 described mushroom species and varieties. It was translated into German under the title Parey's Book of Mushrooms and is considered a standard work. Marcel Bon is also the author of several genre monographs .
He was considered a specialist in the flora of the deserts and dunes of northern France. Bon made watercolors and spore drawings from numerous finds . In the field of botany he was particularly interested in mosses and lichens .
He was also a pianist in the jazz band Nouvelle-Orléans and author of a dictionary of the Picardy language .
