Marcel Matanin

Marcel Matanin (born December 15, 1973 in Vranov nad Topľou ) is a Slovak long-distance runner .

Life

Overall, he was twice national champion in the 5000 m (2001, 2003), five times in the 10,000 m (1996, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006), four times in the half marathon (2001-2003, 2007), once in the 3000 m obstacle course ( 1999) and ten times in cross-country running on the long distance (1996, 2000–2008).

At the World Half Marathon Championships in 1996 he finished 86th and at the 2000 World Cross Country Championships 100th place. In 2001 he came 14th in the Berlin Half Marathon , in 2002 and 2004 he won the Dresden Marathon in the half marathon competition, and in 2003 he was fourth in the Košice Marathon . In 2004 he qualified sixth in the Zurich Marathon for the marathon of the Olympic Games in Athens , where he finished 81st.

In 2005 he was the overall eighth of the Košice Marathon, Slovak marathon champion. The following year he won the Leipzig Marathon and defended his national title in Košice with 13th overall. In 2007 he won again in Leipzig.
