Marcel Rapp (born April 16, 1979 in Pforzheim ) is a former German soccer player and currently soccer coach .

Career as a player

Before his time as a professional, Marcel Rapp played for the juniors of Karlsruher SC, VfR Pforzheim and his home club, 1. FC Ersingen. During his time at Karlsruher SC, Rapp had a total of eight appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, and another second league appearance was added in 2000 for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. In the following years he played for FC Carl Zeiss Jena and SC Pfullendorf in the Regionalliga Süd . In the Regionalliga Rapp came to a total of 242 appearances and fourteen goals.

In the 2007/08 season he played in the Regionalliga Süd for the Stuttgarter Kickers and qualified with the team for the newly founded 3rd professional league. In the following season, Rapp descended with the Stuttgarter Kickers in the Regionalliga Süd. He had been the captain of the Kickers team since the summer of 2009 , but left the club at the end of the 2010/11 season and joined FC Nöttingen in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in the following season . In the 2012/13 season Rapp acted in addition to his work as a player as an assistant coach of the FCN.

Career as a coach

In January 2013 Rapp became assistant coach of the B1 juniors (U17) at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim under Jens Rasiejewski . For the 2013/14 season he took over the B2 Juniors (U16) as head coach and looked after them over two seasons. For the 2015/16 season , Rapp became head coach of the U17s, who played in the B-Junioren-Bundesliga . In March 2017, Rapp took over the A-Juniors (U19) from Domenico Tedesco , who moved to the second division club FC Erzgebirge Aue . He finished the 2017/18 season as champion of the A-Junioren-Bundesliga season south / southwest, but failed with the team in the semi-finals for the all-German championship at FC Schalke 04 .

In March 2019, Rapp successfully completed his training as a football teacher .

On June 9, 2020, Rapp took over the Bundesliga team from Alfred Schreuder , together with the previous assistant coach Matthias Kaltenbach and U16 coach Kai Herdling , who at that time after the 30th matchday of the 2019/20 season with 43 points on the 7th.
