Marek Śnieciński (born September 26, 1958 in Breslau ) is a Polish poet , narrator, essayist , art critic , curator , documentary filmmaker and translator of German literature.

Life

Marek Śnieciński is a graduate of the University of Wroclaw (subject history 1982, art history 1986, classical philology 1980/81). Since 1988 he has been working at the Art History Institute of the University of Wroclaw, where he lectures on contemporary art and photography. 2001–2002 he was the Artistic Director of the Photography School in Wrocław. In 2009 he defended his dissertation on "German photography in the 90s of the 20th century. Images and ideas". He published over 100 articles on photography problems in the XX. Century in Poland, Germany, Austria and Slovakia, edited about 20 catalogs and was curator of a few dozen exhibitions, a. a. in the Galerie am Prater women photographers from Breslau and the Galerie Pankow Polish Photography, Jerzy Lewczynski . Since 2009 he has been a lecturer at the Wroclaw Art Academy.

Marek Śnieciński was a participant in the German-Polish poet steamer , the German-Polish poetry festival “ wortlust ” 1997 in Lublin and the Orpheus project in Wrocław, Bad Muskau and Lwówek Śląski as well as the “Literary Bed” in Ochsenwang (with Marta Fox , Tina Stroheker and Dieter Kalka ). His texts have been published in literary magazines in Germany, Austria , Slovakia and Poland. They were translated into German by Bettina Wöhrmann , Peter Gehrisch, Tina Stroheker and Dieter Kalka. Marek Śnieciński is a member of the Wolfgang Hilbig Society in Leipzig. He lives in Wroclaw.

Marek Śnieciński was co-organizer and participant of the Polish-German Orpheus project "Orpheus - a journey to the border springs / Orfeusz - podróż do źródeł granic" (Wrocław 1999) and "Orpheus - conversation in the word / Orfeusz - rozmowa w słowie" ( Saxony 2000 - 2001).

Scholarships

In 2000 he received the literary scholarship at the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin (Prussian Sea Trade Foundation).
