Marek Solczyński

Marek Solczyński (born April 7, 1961 in Stawiszyn , Greater Poland Voivodeship , Poland ) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

After studying Catholic theology and philosophy , Marek Solczyński received the sacrament of ordination on May 28, 1987 from the Polish primate , Józef Cardinal Glemp , in St. John's Cathedral in Warsaw . He then worked as a chaplain in Józefów .

From 1990 to 1992 he completed postgraduate studies at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy and received his PhD for Doctor of Canon Law . On April 1, 1993, he entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See and was then in the Apostolic Nunciatures and Diplomatic Missions of the Holy See in Russia , at the UN in New York , in the United States , Turkey , the Czech Republic and Spain active.

On May 2, 1994, Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) and on June 30, 2004 the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on November 26, 2011 titular Archbishop of Caesarea in Mauretania and Apostolic Nuncio in Georgia and on December 15 of the same year in addition to Apostolic Nuncio in Armenia . The episcopal ordination received his Benedict XVI. on January 6, 2012 in St. Peter's Basilica ; Co-consecrators were Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB and Cardinal William Joseph Levada .

On April 25, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Tanzania.
