Maren Haile-Selassie (born March 13, 1999 in Zurich ) is a Swiss football player of Ethiopian descent who plays on the position of midfielder. He is under contract with FC Zurich and currently plays on loan for Neuchâtel Xamax .

Career

Haile-Selassie was trained as a youth at FC Zurich and played twice as a youth player for FC Volketswil. He made his professional debut for Zurich with a 2-1 victory in the Super League against FC Thun on July 30, 2017. He won the Swiss Cup with Zurich in 2017/18 .

On January 9, 2019, Haile-Selassie was loaned to FC Rapperswil-Jona , for which he scored two goals in 18 games in the Challenge League. On July 10, 2019, he was loaned to Neuchâtel Xamax FCS for the 2019/20 season. He made his league debut for Xamax on July 20, 2019 against FC Thun. He scored his first goal in the Super League on September 21, 2019 against FC Sion .

Haile-Selassie was born in Switzerland to Ethiopian parents and could play for both countries. He is currently a youth national player in Switzerland.
