Margarete Teschemacher

Margarete Teschemacher (born March 3, 1903 in Cologne , † May 19, 1959 in Bad Wiessee ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Margarete Teschemacher studied at the conservatory in her hometown. In 1924 she made her debut as Michaela in Bizet's Carmen in Cologne. Further engagements took her to the Stadttheater Aachen , Stadttheater Dortmund , Nationaltheater Mannheim , Staatsoper Stuttgart .

Her international career began in 1934, when she sang the title role of Arabella by Richard Strauss at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires . Two years later she came to London and sang the Countess in Figaro's Wedding and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden .

In 1935 she came to the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden , where she sang the title role as partner of Torsten Ralf in the premiere of Daphne by Richard Strauss in 1938 . She also took part in the Salzburg Festival .

She was also a guest at La Scala in Milan , at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona , at the Chicago Opera and at the Berlin , Munich and Vienna State Operas . In 1940 she took part in the world premiere of the cantata German Resurrection at the Wiener Musikverein . A festive song by Franz Schmidt .

In 1943 she married the painter Richard Panzer . After the Second World War she had a guest performance contract with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf .

She was the partner of Helge Rosvaenge , Marcel Wittrisch , Georg Hann and Karl Schmitt-Walter on various sound carriers .
