Maria Magdalena Church

The Church of Mary Magdalene is a Russian Orthodox church on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem . It was built in 1886 by Tsar Alexander III. in traditional Russian style with seven gilded onion domes .

In front of the iconostasis are the final resting places of Elisabeth of Hessen-Darmstadt, who is venerated as a holy martyr by the Russian Orthodox Church, and her niece Alice von Battenberg .
